About Me
I first started out as a Graphic Designer in 2000 while studying in my 3 year college course in Graphic Design. After undertaking multimedia as a elective in my second year it was clear to me that this was something that I wanted to explore further and possibly pursue as a career. After Graduating from college I was employed by Creative Display Productions (CDP) who specialised in creating unique point of sale display units for a variety of clients. As part of the design team we worked closely with the industrial designers to produce graphics to set key-lines (knife lines) to be manufactured into cardboard displays. Some of the major clients I completed work for at that time included, Sony, Fox Entertainment, Colgate, and Ferrero.
While working at CDP I completed a one year night-course in web design at Hornsby Tafe. Shortly after graduating from the web design course I left CDP and moved on to join Freshweb where I was employed as a Flash design contractor. At Freshweb I became part of the flash team who worked on designing and animating eLearning modules in flash for one of Freshweb's major clients, Optus. During this time some of the major work I was involved in included, Optus’ 2.5g Network, Optus’ Cost Centre Management, Optus’ Iris, Optus’ Push to talk, Optus’ Simbackup, and Optus’ SOS. My role also included designing a variety of screensavers, touchscreen graphics and animations for Qantas for use in public kiosks.
After 1 year with Freshweb I joined Funbox. I was employed by Funbox as a Graphic designer at a time when Funbox was just entering the industry as a new start up business. This position was new to the company and allowed me to take full control of all things design.
As the sole designer I worked closely with the marketing team and the developer team to produce all of Funbox’s web, TV and print campaigns. During my time with Funbox I worked on many campaigns focusing on chat, ringtone, picture, video and many more sms/mms related services. I introduced Full Flash websites to Funbox as a platform that resulted in a much higher success rate in the market and personally see this as a great achievement.
After 2 years with Funbox I moved on to become a freelance web/print designer. I used my existing personal online portal, soultydesign.com to promote my existing work and advertise my services. As owner of soultydesign.com I produced print and web solutions to a variety of local businesses.
After 1 year as a freelance designer, I was employed once more by Funbox, this time as their Senior Designer. Funbox was expanding and in need of more designers so I was introduced back into the company to manage and maintain all elements of design including building a internal and external team of designers. We as a team continued the focus on html landing pages and full flash websites for our existing markets and was introduced to non-english speaking international market that funbox was just breaking into. The introduction of non-english speaking market resulted in our team working closely with internal developers and third-party translators to develop our websites and design our online marketing material(banners, emailers) to produce and output multiple languages.
I am currently working as a freelance designer in soultydesign.com. I provide identity, print and web design for a variety of clients. Additionally I keep developing my skills and researching new technologies to learn, some of which include, HTML 5, CSS3, jQuery and webkit technologies.
When I am away from my computer you can find me on a basketball court or with my family and friends enjoying food, a nice red wine or bourbon, and having a laugh. I also enjoy spectating sports and playing the latest and greatest console game.
